There are some amazing resources out there for seniors and their families. Take a look at the California Department of Aging website (http://www.aging.ca.gov/) for information on everything “senior” including access to information on improving the quality of their lives, community involvement, and support for family members providing care.
Another great resource is the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program in California (http://www.aging.ca.gov/Programs/#LTCOP). Their goal is to advocate for all residents of senior living communities. If you are anyone in your family have issues pertaining to all aspects of the care and living environment of a specific community, a formal complaint can be filed. The Ombudsman office will conduct a full investigation on the facility and file a report. These reports are taken very seriously, as a community does not want this on their record.
